# How to add zoned geofence

When creating a geofence in MyCarTracks, the most common and efficient option is a circular geofence defined by a center point and radius. This method is widely used due to its simplicity and speed. However, in certain situations, you may need to create a custom-shaped geofence. To do this, follow these steps:

1. In the menu, go to **Geofences** , click the **+** button, and select **Geofence**.
2. On the top, click the **Zone** tab

3. Enter the location name and use the Search address for quick zoom to the location where you want to add the geofence.  
4. Click on the map to place the vertices of your custom geofence. Double-click to finalize the zone. Please ensure the shape is a simple polygon, as complex shapes may not function correctly.

5. Click **Save** to create the geofence.
