# How to add a driver using an email account to an existing vehicle

If another person needs to track trips for one of your vehicles using their own phone, you can add them as a driver with their email address. This allows the driver to use their own MyCarTracks account while accessing the vehicle you assign to them.

## Add the driver in the web application

1. Sign in to the MyCarTracks web application.

2. Go to **Fleet**.

3. Open the **Drivers & Devices** tab.

4. Click the **+** button at the top of the page.

5. Select **Driver with Email account** and click **Next**.

6. Enter the driver’s details.

7. In the **Driver email** field, enter the email address the driver will use for their MyCarTracks account.

8. Under **Vehicles** , select the vehicle or vehicles you want to assign to the driver.

9. Click **Save**.

## Set up MyCarTracks on the driver’s phone

The driver can now:

1. Install the MyCarTracks app on their phone.

2. Create or sign in to a MyCarTracks account using the **same email address** you entered when adding them as a driver.

3. Open the app and select the assigned vehicle. **This step is important; the driver must select the correct vehicle and not his own or other vehicle.**

4. Start tracking trips with that vehicle.

Once the driver is connected, trips recorded from their phone will be associated with the vehicle assigned to them.

## Important

Make sure the driver uses exactly the same email address that was entered in **Drivers & Devices**. If they create an account with a different email address, the assigned vehicle will not automatically appear in their app.
