# How to add a driver using an Account ID to an existing vehicle

If you do not want a driver to [create their own MyCarTracks account](https://community.mycartracks.com/t/how-to-add-a-driver-using-an-email-account-to-an-existing-vehicle/446) using an email address, you can create an **Account ID** for them instead. This is a convenient option for company drivers because you can create and manage their access directly from your MyCarTracks web account.

## Create an Account ID for the driver

1. Sign in to the MyCarTracks web application.

2. Go to **Fleet**.

3. Open the **Drivers & Devices** tab.

4. Click the **+** button at the top of the page.

5. Select **Driver with Account ID** and click **Next**.

6. MyCarTracks will automatically generate an **Account ID** for the driver.

7. Enter any additional driver details as needed.

8. Under **Vehicles**, select the vehicle or vehicles the driver should be able to use.

9. Save the driver.

You can then provide the generated Account ID to the driver or send the setup information to them by SMS or email.

## Set up MyCarTracks on the driver's phone

The driver should:

1. Install the MyCarTracks app on their phone.

2. On the login screen, select **Sign in with Account ID**.

3. Enter the Account ID you provided.

4. Complete the setup and select the assigned vehicle.

If you sent the driver a setup link, they can simply open the link on their phone. The MyCarTracks app will then configure the Account ID automatically.

## When should I use an Account ID?

An Account ID is particularly useful when you manage multiple company drivers and do not want each driver to create and maintain a separate MyCarTracks account using their personal email address.

It also gives the fleet administrator a simple way to create driver access and assign the appropriate vehicles from one central account.
