MyCarTracks is a mobile–based tracking service where the **MyCarTracks app** is installed on the driver’s phone or tablet. It’s similar to sports trackers where you take your phone while running, but this time the app recognizes driving activity and records these drives. The app turns the phone into a tracking unit.

To see live positions, historical data, reports, or dispatch drivers use the Web console located at [mycartracks.com](https://www.mycartracks.com). Mobile apps are not connected to each other. The mobile app is a tracker intended for the driver and not for the fleet manager. The app doesn’t anyhow connect to your vehicle.

#### Standard hardware GPS units

If you’re searching for a service to track a [standard hardware GPS unit](https://community.mycartracks.com/t/location-tracking-devices-gps-glonass-beidou-and-galileo/84) MyCarTrack supports all major hardware location trackers (GNSS) from established brands like Teltonika, Ruptela, Galileosky, and more. [See here for more details.](https://community.mycartracks.com/t/location-tracking-devices-gps-glonass-beidou-and-galileo/84)

#### How to start?

If you don’t know how to start or have the mobile app but it’s not connected to the web console [go to the sign-up page and create your web account](https://www.mycartracks.com/sign-up). The initial welcome wizard will help you to connect your device with the first vehicle.

For bigger fleets, we created a fleet setup tool that makes it [easy to set up the fleet](https://community.mycartracks.com/t/how-to-create-a-fleet-add-vehicles-to-your-account/33). Our [Account ID](https://community.mycartracks.com/t/driver-account-types-what-is-account-id-and-what-google-account/57) feature makes it super-easy to add your drivers by just providing a [shared link](https://community.mycartracks.com/t/what-is-a-magic-link/58) to them.

All recorded data like GPS positions, mileage data, or IoT sensor data are sent using a data plan (3G, 4G/LTE, 5G) or Wi-Fi to [mycartracks.com](https://www.mycartracks.com) where they are securely stored and accessible via the [mobile-friendly](https://community.mycartracks.com/t/add-mycartracks-to-your-home-screen/42) Web App console on [mycartracks.com.](https://www.mycartracks.com)

1. The mobile device is collecting GPS positions and other telematics-related data.
2. All recorded data are sent as packet data (Wi-Fi, GSM, etc.) from the mobile device to MyCarTracks Cloud where they are securely stored. Our unique algorithms partially process and minimize data on your mobile device and therefore the overall mobile data consumption is only 1MB per 1000 – 3000 km (621 – 1864 miles). This makes the real-time localization also faster than with a traditional unit.
3. You can access your data through PC, tablet, or phone at [www.mycartracks.com](https://www.mycartracks.com).
